1. General
-
Only Ruckus members can buy quality fuel at discounted, member-only prices at participating locations.
You also get the convenience of paying at the pump through the Ruckus app 24 hours a day at select sites – even if the site is closed, so you can fuel up whenever it suits you.
-
Download the Ruckus app
Sign up using the app
Fuel up at a Ruckus site using the app – you’ll pay the Ruckus price, not the price on the pump.
From time to time there will be a waitlist for memberships – if this is the case at the time you sign up then you will be added to the waitlist and your membership will activate automatically once a spot is available. You will only be charged your recurring membership fee once your membership is active.
-
Membership costs only $5 per month or $50 per year and you can cancel any time. The first month’s membership is on us! Membership fees are charged to your nominated payment card at the beginning of each billing period.
-
The Ruckus Price is what members pay for their fuel when they fill up using the Ruckus app at Ruckus sites. You can view the Ruckus prices at each Ruckus site using the app. Ignore the price on the pump – Ruckus members pay the Ruckus price that is displayed in the app at the time of fuelling.
-
Yes, you can cancel your membership at any time using the app. Your membership will remain active until the end of your current billing period and you will not be billed again thereafter.
Once you cancel your membership you will no longer be able to buy fuel at the Ruckus price and you will have to join the waitlist (if any) if you choose to rejoin in the future.
To cancel, open the app and select “Profile” to open the app menu. Select Profile from the menu, and then “Cancel Membership”.
-
Yes! Every Ruckus member has a referral code, visible in the Ruckus app. If your friend enters your referral code when they sign up they will not only jump the waitlist (if any), you will also receive a $5 rebate on your membership fees.
2. Fuel and filling up
-
Yes! Our participating locations sell fuel supplied by BP, Shell, Mobil, Chevron, Ampol and Endeavour.
We are required by law to sell fuel that meets stringent Government requirements. Ruckus sites only sell fuel of the highest quality. Also, the fuel you buy as a Ruckus member comes from the same tanks as the fuel bought by the regular customers at these sites (only, they pay more).
-
You can find a list of Ruckus participating locations on this web site or by using the Ruckus app. Check back regularly, as we’re working hard to add new locations all the time.
-
The Ruckus app lists the types of fuel you can buy at each participating location and the corresponding Ruckus Price.
-
Filling up is easy and fun. Simply drive onto the forecourt, open the app and select pay in car, and follow the prompts. Fill up, auto-pay and drive away!
Ignore the price on the pump – Ruckus members pay the Ruckus price listed in the app (note you must fill up using the app to receive the Ruckus price).
-
Yes, at select sites (eg Endeavour Glen Innes) Ruckus members can fuel up at Ruckus locations 24 hours a day using the Ruckus app, even if the shop is closed. If a site is shown as “online” in the app, then you can go ahead and fill. Many of our other locations also operate 24 hours a day with the store attended.
-
Ruckus adheres to industry-leading security and privacy standards, meaning the Ruckus app is very safe and secure. We use a tokenised billing system that removes the need to store payment card information, meaning your payment card details can never be stolen or misused.
Please note that you may be liable for purchases made using your Ruckus app, even if these were not authorised by you, so please take precautions to secure your mobile device and never allow others to use your payment card details.
-
The Ruckus Price is only available to members who fuel up using the pay at the pump feature of the Ruckus app. If you dispense fuel without using the app then you will be obliged to pay the fuel retailer for that fuel at the price displayed on the pump. Please take care when using the Ruckus app to select the correct pump and only start filling when directed to do so within the app.
3. Charges
-
We do preauthorise for your selected maximum fill amount - this is the amount you choose in the app just before you fill. A preauthorisation “sets money aside” for the future fuel transaction. We do this to help customers avoid filling their car and then realising they do not have enough money in their account to pay.
Preauthorisations usually appear straight away on the statement in your banking app.
As soon as you complete your fill and hang up the hose, we make the charge for your fuel purchase AND instruct the bank to clear the preauthorisation. For most, the preauthorisation clears very quickly (and the bank statement updated to show the charge for the fuel).
Unfortunately, we are hearing more and more instances of customers seeing their banks take many hours and even days to clear preauthorisations. We want to do something about this and plan to update members shortly - watch this space.
If you have any questions about this, or want to share your experience with us (including confidentially) please do reach out at info@ruckusenergy.co
-
Please be assured Ruckus will only ever charge you for the fuel you actually buy, at the price shown in the app.
If you are seeing the “maximum fill amount” appear on your bank statement (and the fuel you purchased was less than this), then the preauthorisation has not yet cleared from your bank statement - it should happen soon - we instruct the bank to clear the preauthorisation as soon as you hang up the hose. See our notes above for more information on this.
4. Safety
-
Please never use your mobile phone while filling your vehicle – you should use Ruckus from the safety of your car if possible. If on a motorcycle, you should start the transaction and press “fuel up” before putting your phone away in your pocket or bag before lifting the hose and filling your tank.
-
Ruckus can only be used to fuel cars, motorbikes and trucks. Convertible cars must be refueled with their top-up. You cannot use Ruckus to fill jerry cans or any other type of portable container.
-
Yes! Motor fuel is a combustible product which is inherently dangerous. We care about your safety and the safety of others on the service station forecourt. Please:
Use common sense and keep your wits about you.
Familiarise yourself with the safety signage, physical layout of the site, the location of the emergency equipment and make yourself aware of the location of vehicles entering, driving on and exiting the service station.
Observe the requirements and recommendations of any such safety signage and/or any directions of any staff of a Participating Site.
Never smoke at a service station.
If you are aged under 16 years old, you must not dispense Motor Fuel.
Never fill your car while it is in motion or if the engine or ignition is on.
